\nAjo lindi n\u00eb Athin\u00eb m\u00eb 1925. Babai ishte nga Kreta, kurse n\u00ebna nga Samoja, ku kaloi f\u00ebmij\u00ebrin\u00eb. Studioi n\u00eb Fakultetin e Filozofis\u00eb t\u00eb Universitetit t\u00eb Athin\u00ebs, n\u00eb Fakultetin e Dram\u00ebs t\u00eb Konservatorit t\u00eb Athin\u00ebs dhe n\u00eb Institutin e Kinematografis\u00eb n\u00eb Mosk\u00eb. N\u00eb vitet 1954-1964 jetoi si azilante politike n\u00eb Bashkimin Sovjetik. M\u00eb 1964 u kthye n\u00eb Greqi, por m\u00eb 1967 u vendos n\u00eb Franc\u00eb me ardhjen n\u00eb pushtet t\u00eb Junt\u00ebs ushtarake, p\u00ebr t\u2019u kthyer vet\u00ebm pas r\u00ebnies s\u00eb regjimit diktatorial.
\n\u00cbsht\u00eb marr\u00eb me let\u00ebrsi q\u00eb e vog\u00ebl, duke shkruar tekste p\u00ebr teatrin e kukullave. N\u00eb janar 2015 shteti francez e nderoi me Kryqin e Art\u00eb t\u00eb Legjionit t\u00eb Nderit, nd\u00ebrsa n\u00eb shtator 2015 me titullin Komandant i Urdhrit t\u00eb Arteve dhe t\u00eb Letrave.<\/p>\n
